A big screen adaptation of writer Alan Bennett’s iconic and celebrated memoir, directed by long-standing Bennett collaborator Nicholas Hytner.
This is a free event and takes place in the Church at 6.30pm. Just turn up at the main entrance on Long Street. You are welcome to a shared tea at 5.30pm, just bring a contribution. The film follows shortly afterwards.
The film tells the true story of the relationship between Alan Bennett and the singular Miss Shepherd, a woman of uncertain origins who ‘temporarily’ parked her van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. Their unique story is funny, poignant and life-affirming.
