Celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this November, All Saints and Martyrs is the home of the “Langley Cross”. Designed by internationally renowned artist Geoffrey Clarke RA, it is quite unique. The rugged structure, cast in aluminium, stands 37 feet tall and 20 feet wide. Whilst it portrays the brutality of the ancient Roman practice of crucifixion, it also lends itself to a contemporary interpretation, with many levels of Christian symbolism able to be perceived when contemplating the cross. Other works of Geoffrey Clarke, including the Crown of Thorns can be seen in Coventry Cathedral. Church registers going back to 1964 will be available to view for visitors who may have past links to the church. The organ is a traditional pipe instrument built in 1964 in the most modern fashion of the time, by the well-reputed firm of Rushworth and Dreaper of Liverpool. There is a children’s area.
