The Edgar Wood Society is an enthusiastic group of people who enjoy Arts & Crafts buildings and craft work . The Society is dedicated to the restoration and re-use of the Arts & Crafts Church Church and promoting the work of Edgar Wood and his contemporaries. We host an annual programme of events, workshops and visits to places of interest. Members can get involved in all sorts of ways, including a research group which regularly comes up with new discoveries.
The Society was formed in April 2011 to promote the architecture, furniture, paintings and other work of Edgar Wood and his role in the developing Arts & Crafts movement. In particular the Society seeks to restore and secure the future of the Arts & Crafts Church, Long Street Methodist Church and Schools, Edgar Wood’s masterpiece in Middleton.
Annual membership is £15, or £25 for families, which give access to lectures, research, trips and events. There is a regular newsletter to update members and new members receive a pack of 5 Edgar Wood post cards, a pen, membership card and enamel pin badge “Edgar Wood Society”.
